FAQS
Hologram Zoo Melbourne is a one-of-a-kind immersive experience where animals and environments are brought to life using cutting-edge holographic laser light technology. You’ll explore lifelike animal enclosures, a 20m hologram tunnel, and even a sky tunnel where creatures walk overhead. It’s unlike anything you’ve seen before!
Most loved by children aged 5 to 12, but enjoyable for all ages 4 and up. Children under 4 are free with a paying adult, they often struggle with the glasses however they can come along and all our glasses have bands to keep them on heads and not on the floor!
Your Hologram Zoo adventure includes:
- A short 5-minute intro presentation in our Hologram Theatre
- Picking up your special glasses from the counter
- Five immersive laps through our main zoo experience, featuring stunning holographic scenes and animal encounters
- Optional second round: Take another five laps through an optional secondary experience.
- Choose your next adventure:
- Relax and refuel in our café with food and drinks
- Or head straight to the Photo Studio for some silly, fun green-screen snaps to take home!
It’s your day — explore at your own pace and enjoy every moment!

We get asked this a lot — and it’s a fair question!
While traditional 3D (like in cinemas) shows a flat image that gives the illusion of depth, our experience is different thanks to motion tracking technology.
Here’s why it goes beyond standard 3D:
Your position changes the image: Unlike regular 3D, where the scene looks the same no matter where you sit, our system tracks your location in the room. As you move, the holographic animals and environments shift in perspective — just like real objects do in the real world.
Everyone sees the same thing at the same time: Because of the tracking and special glasses, all guests in the room see the same interaction from their own perspective. This creates a shared, lifelike holographic experience that you can enjoy together — not isolated behind a headset.
Objects appear to occupy real space: The animals appear to exist in the room with you. You’ll instinctively duck, reach out, or step aside — something that doesn’t happen with flat-screen 3D.
So while it may not be a “true volumetric hologram” like those in science fiction, it is a real-time, room-scale holographic illusion — more immersive, more interactive, and more physical than traditional 3D.
That’s why we call it a Hologram Zoo — and why people come back again and again.

- Visitors are welcome to step out for a break if needed — staff can pause your session
We recommend a short trial for sensitive individuals or consultation with a healthcare provider beforehand.
